Getting Lost is a real world travel adventure game created in Aotearoa New Zealand and played around the world to get wonderfully lost and explore new places.
Purposefully offline, The Getting Lost Game is designed to inspire adventures and get people out of what they know and explore that unbeaten path. There are no rules to the game and the ways you can play it are endless and entirely adaptable to the people playing. The game gives you random directions to discover new places wherever you are in the country.

Adventurers / Standard Edition:
This is the perfect starter pack for finding hidden gems off the beaten track, while exploring your own backyard. A great game that can be played anywhere in the world!
This edition contains 26 “misdirection cards” which give you random cues to encourage you to be mindfully random in your exploration. Cues like 'turn left', 'follow a blue car' and 'head in the direction the wind is blowing'.
At Home Edition:
Things to do around home on the days you can’t get out and get lost! Featuring 30 awesome activities that you can do around your home or garden the Getting Lost At Home Edition is purposefully nostalgic with loads of low-cost things you can do with what’s in your house right now. And best of all – they are screen and device free!
Girls Road Trip Edition:
A standalone Getting Lost Game with 26 misdirection cards to help you create the most memorable girl's road trip yet. The directions are generic so they can be played in any country. This edition requires no planning at all. Just grab a group of girls, jump in the car, shuffle the cards and start drawing them to find out where you’ll end up and which places you’ll visit along the way.
You’ll be stopping to go down slides, buying each other a random outfit at a thrift shop that you have to wear the whole day and choosing where you stop for a drink by the colour of the top the driver is wearing. You’ll have laughed, eaten, drunk and had that kind of fun that only happens on the best of girl's trips.
Office Party Edition:
26 misdirection cards designed to create an epic office party - as individual as the company that hosts it.
Everybody Edition:
The Adventurers edition reimagined to remove physical, mental, visual and audio barriers to play.
Camper Edition:
Designed specifically for campervans or caravans with a mix of direction and activity cards.
Cycling Edition:
Specifically for cycling with a mix of direction and activity cards.
Wellbeing Edition:
30 misdirection cards designed to bring some wellbeing into your everyday life - use on a walk, at home, commuting, or anywhere!
Te reo Māori Edition: With the 26 misdirection cards in te reo Māori on one side and English on the other side you’ll have everything you need to get off devices and start exploring untraveled paths while improving your te reo Māori. A brilliant way to bring te reo Māori into your everyday life as you learn the different direction cards.
10 and 15 Card Booster Packs:
Designed as an add on to an existing Getting Lost Game but could be used as a very short version of the game or combined with another Booster Pack for a full game. For maximum adventure we recommend using as an add-on to a full game.
These editions have generic misdirections that are easily transferable to other countries. The Out of Town Edition is the most “Kiwi” of all, so if you are playing outside of NZ you will need to adapt a few cards to your local area with some local NZ treats like Tip Top Dairies (a well-known ice cream brand here in NZ) and Pukeko’s (a large, blue-purplish, wetland-dwelling bird spotted often in NZ).
Created by: The Getting Lost Game is designed and made by Cat & James (Kiwi Travel Bloggers), with help (and a lot of road testing) from their 3 daughters.
Each card measures 91mm x 55mm.
Please remember to play the game responsibly and make sure that you stay safe and are able to get yourself back home at all times.
