Beautiful earrings made from recycled piano keys, guitar strings and sterling silver. The perfect gift for the muso in your life!
The wood used to make these earrings came from the black keys of an old piano, which had unfortunately decayed beyond repair. Luckily the keys were still intact, and when paired with old guitar strings, make for a very special pair of earrings. The special detail is the beautiful twisted cross section of the guitar string. These earrings truly are stunning tiny sculptures that you can wear.
These wooden earrings not only look great, but they feel great to wear too! One aspect that everyone loves about Liberation's wooden jewellery is how light it is - large drop earrings can be worn all day (and even into the night!) without discomfort.
Other benefits include:
Super light - you may forget you're wearing them!
Finished with beeswax.
Fitted with 0.8mm round sterling silver, shaped by Matt.
Great for sensitive ears.
Due to the nature of piano keys, there are slight variations in the tone of the wood, making each pair perfectly unique.
The full length of each earring (including the sterling silver hook) is about 6.5 cm.
Made in Aotearoa New Zealand byLiberation Jewellery– recycling for the modern world with jewellery that has clean, modern lines, splashes of colour and just a hint of boho chic (or is that eco chic?). Matt started making jewellery as a side project to his sculptural art practice, but soon realised that jewellery piecesaresmall sculptures, and that the gallery is the person wearing them. Matt loves being in his studio making works of art – it’s his happy place.
Matt and Julie (Team Liberation) have a strong emphasis on community, the handmade, and reducing the environmental impact of their products. They believe that small, handcrafted businesses, like theirs, offer a great antidote to the world of mass production we all live in. Knowing that the item you buy is ethically handmade with great care is something to celebrate, something the world needs more of.
