1 billion plastic, petroleum-based, non-biodegradable straws are used worldwide everyday. These wooden bamboo straws are a fun and eco-friendly alternative to plastic that can be used with any beverage. The straws are made from real whole bamboo stalks and are washable and reusable.
Wash before use and rinse immediately after use to avoid getting anything stuck in your straw. Use a jar of warm water with a mild soap to shake them clean, or clean with a pipe cleaner. Clean thoroughly and allow to air dry. Do not allow to soak for long periods of time and make sure the straws have dried fully before putting them away. For a deep clean, soak and shake in warm water and mild vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 20 parts of water) for 10 minutes. These straws will last a long time if properly cared for.
Bamboo is sustainable as it is one of the fastest growing plants in the world (some species grow at a rate of 1mm every 90 seconds!) and it is naturally organic as it grows without the need for pesticides or chemical fertilisers.
A purchase of bamboo straws is a vote for sustainable materials.
